Giving the best care for a child is what all parents want. The best protection and the best nutrition. But sometimes, finances is getting aligned with all the things that a parent must provide.
Bills come after bills. And as your dear child grows, expenses equally becomes bigger, and budget becomes tighter.
As support to parents, the government is having their own ways in securing that growing up formula manufacturers are not taking advantage.
Singapore government is taking their step in reviewing import requirements and making growing up formulas available in the hospitals. All three public hospitals namely Singapore General Hospital (SGH), National University Hospital (NUH), and KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) are taking their parts in carrying affordable ready-to-feed formula to help parents.
Moreover, all infant and growing up formulas sold in Singapore meets the nutritional needs for infants to grow regardless of the price.
FairPrice chief executive Seah Kian Peng also agrees that more public education and understanding on the benefits of infant formula will help parents determine better and informed choices
Indeed, when parents know more about the formula they get for their child, they would not also be easily get confused with different advertising claims. As a mum, be mindful not only with what you see or hear, learn more about it. Take note of the following:
Quality is not about the price. As mentioned above, all infant and growing up formula that you can find in the market provide sufficient and basic nutrition a child needs. While some brands offer higher levels of DHA, it does not necessarily mean that they are better.
It is better to build a balance diet. As your child grows, the nutrition he need is not being limited to growing up formula. Outside a can of milk, you can gradually introduce other food.
Well, the government is taking their part to help parents make a better choice. Now, it is your responsibility as a mum to weigh things out for the growth of your child.
