Whole milk has 8g of fat and 8g of protein. It is called whole milk because it is intact compared to ‘2 percent’, ‘1 percent’ and ‘nonfat milk’. Whole milk is also less creamy and caloric. However, whole milk is not recommended for babies under 12 months of age for the following reasons:
- Compared to breastmilk and formula, it is low in iron, linelic acid and Vitamin E
- Whole cow’s milk has sodium, potassium, protein and chloride not easy to handle for little kidneys
- It may cause allergic reaction
At the age of seven months, your baby is now ready for different textures like mashed baby food. So, Step 2 formula, like Dumex Mamil Gold Step 2, is advisable to use after six months. It is also called as ‘follow-on formula’. Follow-on formula is intended to support nutritional needs of infants. It is suitable for 6-12 months.
